What a difference $1 makes! Where is your $1 spent?
People living in extreme poverty have the same needs as we do. The difference is that their water needs to be accessed and their ability to provide food for the whole family is based on whatever is physically available and affordable. After that, hopefully, young children go to school. In other words, small change empowers individuals out of everyday poverty.
Direct debit your dollar today and together we become a community of givers who say: No to contaminated water, no to hunger, no to illiteracy, no to inadequate sanitation, no to disease, no to suffering.
The World Health Organisation estimates that more than 45 % of the population of the African region falls under the poverty-line definition, which characterises as “poor” anyone who cannot afford a daily consumption rate of US$1.
Around the world, children make up nearly half of the almost 900 million people living on less than US$1.90 a day. Therefore, their families struggle to afford the essential nutrition needed and health care to provide a strong start. For instance, these deprivations leave a lasting imprint; in 2014, there were nearly 160 million children stunted.
In addition, this poverty is adversely affecting life expectancy, child and infant mortality rates, and disease.
Above all, your $1 is given to feed hungry children who attend school so they can live and receive an education for their future without poverty.
